My name is Maxine Fekete (feh-kah-tee).

I was raised mostly in Franklin, Tennessee and I moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 2015 where I enrolled in the University of Alaska Anchorage. I graduated in 2021 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a focus in sculpture and a secondary in ceramics. Growing up, I worked mostly in two-dimensional mediums but in undergrad I found that three-dimensional mediums like clay, steel, string, aluminum, and wood were more conducive for my work.

In my undergrad practice, I placed importance on order, materiality, placement, and the appearance of simplicity. I was interested in exploring the play between the second, third, and fourth dimensions and how the viewer relates to them spatially.

Aside from being an artist, I have always been a planner. I’ve created First Friday programming for small businesses, arranged concerts, organized fundraisers, planned conferences, and have always loved hosting an intimate event.

I’ve created installations and decor for all kinds of events. From fabricating giant foam fruit that seemed to float, mirror mosaicking whatever I could get my hands on for a disco, creating a dragon’s shadow to hang in the rafters, to even just making something fun to take a photo in front of; I can do it all.
